Behind the film
Flyktdjur is a Swedish independent film directed by Mikael Palm. Through a quiet, visual language of storytelling, the film explores relationships, identity, and the human longing for change.
Synopsis
Flyktdjur is a claustrophobic relationship drama with a slow-building tension. At a silent retreat in a secluded manor, Karl and Nathalie try to save their troubled relationship when words are no longer enough. But the boundary between fantasy and reality slowly begins to dissolve, and what was meant to bring them closer instead gives rise to a growing sense of unease.
Flyktdjur is a suggestive, visually driven film about the darker sides of intimacy, but also about grief as a path towards openness and humility. The film explores the difficulty of reaching the person you love – and how the familiar can gradually begin to feel strange.
